We offer a safe, happy and supportive workplace, where training takes place every day, and awareness and self-improvement are integral parts of our culture. An engaged workforce that cares about its customers and the environment is a natural result.
Investing in staff welfare has been a key to our success and development. We have made our factory as comfortable and safe as we can, for example by offering free healthy lunches for all workers. Other examples of our contributions include: 2 football pitches on-site, and a basketball court for employees and local children to use. We have 4 Salamander football teams that train a few times a week after work.
Performance is everything, so to safeguard our future, we share in the company’s success. Our incentives and rewards have encouraged dedication and commitment in our workforce, meaning that the average employee is much more experienced. As we grow, so do our staff:
We’ve offered employee rewards since 1998. Bonuses range from 2 weeks to 2 months of salary, depending on duration of employment. Everybody receives a raise of at the end of the year, ranging between 5.2% - 9.6% of their monthly salary.
Since building our main factory in 2007, the average length of employment has increased from slightly over 12 months, to over 25 months.

Our team is international, fostering an inclusive attitude where tolerance and learning are natural byproducts of a healthy, diverse cultural environment. We adhere to national laws on equal opportunities to include members of society with differing physical abilities, and we are proud of our track record on inclusivity.

Our workplace is comfortable and secure for all staff members regardless of their age or background.
In order to standardize good practices, we have ensured that quality across our business meets the highest standards of ISO certification, covering workers’ rights, safety and environmental concerns in equal measure. Our attention to detail in the quality of our materials means that we can only rely on suppliers that hold the same values when it comes to their products.
This is why we have biannual evaluations of materials from each and every supplier, with safety checks carried out at external laboratories to ensure this quality. Our ISO standards include supplier Key Performance Indicators which we rigorously track. Whether it is for our Korean surgical steel, Chinese titanium, or any other material, nothing less than the best quality is accepted. We also run supplier surveys across the entirety of their processes, which encourages the raising of standards in order to better compete and maintain a solid customer base. It’s another way in which our transparency can encourage flexibility, promote higher standards and improved quality for all involved in our chain from sourcing to delivery.
Our customers benefit from a product whose quality and safety they can depend on, delivered on time. Our suppliers play an integral part in this process, and we always show our support by sharing our knowledge and values for the betterment of all parties across the entire process.
Our business has successfully grown thanks to the efforts of the local community. Consequently, so has the size of our factory. Conscious of our impact on the environment both locally and worldwide, we have developed our environment strategy around this growth, putting measures in place that set a precedent for the company wherever our success takes us in the long term. We are dedicated to taking care of the planet that we all call home, for current and future generations alike.
Our strategy incorporates saving water, energy efficiency, reducing waste and unnecessary use of raw materials, and strict prevention of pollution and environment toxicity. These values are upheld by management systems established to monitor and improve whenever possible, and cover all processes; even extending to supplier performance. In a world in need of clean industry, we constantly work towards reducing our carbon footprint in every possible way.
Please see here for more information on our carbon footprint.
Salamander workers are proud to be part of an organization that not only cares for the local environment, but whose principles extend along the whole value chain: from design, through every process and product, to delivery and even beyond. We are honest and transparent in our reporting, which we believe can inspire others to follow suit. We have a number of ongoing initiatives to inspire and educate our workers and the local community, so that we can continue to benefit together without causing environmental damage, and our customers can buy confident in our green credentials.
Our factory has state of the art equipment for production as well as waste treatment.
The water from our treatment plant exits the factory pure enough to be used to water the plants in the local area, including our football fields. Clean excess water is then let out into a canal close to the factory. The output is tested every month to ensure purity.
Fumes from our plating, casting and chemical polishing department all go through a wet scrubber that neutralizes them before release.
All the dust from our filling and polishing department goes to a central dust collector. Metal particles of brass, pewter, silver, steel and gold are all removed, creating a working environment free of respiratory hazards.
In 2012, we achieved ISO14001 certification for our environmental management systems and policies. While not compulsory in Thailand, we knew that undergoing this internationally recognized process would push us towards achieving our goals. It enables us to control our policies and dedicate all of our energy to maintaining high standards for our workers and the environment.

Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy meaning ‘continuous improvement in small increments.’ In an organization with many departments like ours, it can be put into practice extremely effectively in order to improve operational efficiency and the wellbeing of every member of staff.
We encourage creativity at every level – not just from our design team. We recognize that often the best input can come from employees themselves, so have various methods in place in order that employees’ ideas and concerns are always heard. Teamwork drives Kaizen, instead of individualism, and good teamwork is something that we promote at all levels.
Our employees are always involved in our efforts at work and in the greater community, so they already have a strong sense of belonging. Our regular committee meetings serve as training and also a platform for input, so that any suggestions to improve the way we operate together can always be heard. By becoming involved in the meaningful decisions that drive change, we find that these values increase morale and ultimately, worker happiness and retention.
